Last weekend I was in Frankfurt and of course I visited my favorite Asia store "Taisan" to increase my inventories. When looking through the shelves I noticed this nice in pink paper packaged jelly. Naturally attracted me also the title "Sakura Jelly". It's not a Japanese product, but from the Taiwanese company Awon. But I wanted to try it.
By the way, there is still a green jelly with wheatgrass. I took it, too, but tried it not yet. About that, I report separately.
However, something misleading I find the title Sakura. It refers more to the pink colour of the product as the content. Because the jelly contains namely prune juice and not, as expected cherry blossoms or cherry juice.
The jelly is also suitable for vegans, because it contains no animal substances.
Ingredients according to imprint: water, sugar, prune juice, seaweed extract, konjac powder, brown sugar, soy bean powder, coloring E129 and E127.

Letztes Wochenende war ich in Frankfurt unterwegs und habe natürlich auch meinem Lieblings-Asia-Laden "Taisan" besucht um Vorräte aufzustocken. Beim stöbern durch die Regale ist mir dann dieses hübsch in rosa Papier verpackte Gelee aufgefallen. Natürlich lockte auch der Titel "Sakura Jelly".
Es ist zwar kein japanisches Produkt, sondern von der taiwanesichen Firma Awon. Probieren musste ich es aber trotzdem mal.
Übrigens gibt es von dieser Firma noch eine grünes Gelee mit Weizengras. Dieses habe ich mir auch mitgenommen, aber noch nicht probiert. Darüber berichte ich noch mal extra.
Etwas irreführend finde ich allerdings den Titel Sakura. Dies bezieht sich wohl eher auf die rosa Farbe des Produkts als den Inhalt. Denn das Gelee enthält nämlich Pflaumensaft und nicht wie angenommen Kirschblüten oder Kirschsaft.
Das Gelee ist auch für Veganer geeignet, da es keine tierischen Stoffe enthält.
Zutaten laut Aufdruck: Wasser, Zucker, Pflaumensaft, Algen-Extrakt, Konjak Pulver, brauner Zucker, Soja-Pulver, Farbstoff E129 und E127.
If you unpack it, you see a little round transparent plastic bowl with pink content, which is covered again with a lid. Inside was a small bag with Kinako (soybean flour), a bag with syrup made from brown sugar and a food pick to eat the jelly. Content is 65g. I paid 1,45 €.

Packt man das ganze aus, kommt ein kleines, rundes, durchsichtiges Schälchen mit rosa Inhalt hervor, das noch mal mit einem Plastikdeckel abgedeckt ist. Darin befand sich ein ein kleines Tütchen mit Kinako (Sojabohnenmehl), ein Tütchen mit Sirup aus braunem Zucker und ein Pickser zum essen des Gelees. Inhalt sind 65g. Bezahlt habe ich 1,45 €.
The taste I found not really good, but also not really bad. It was a bit sweet, but not to much. This I liked. But personally, I taste out no prune juice. Rather, I found it a bit - how shall I say - perfumed, like rosewater. At best I found the Kinako powder. From the consistency it is similar to the Cocon pudding.
My result: Personally, I don't like the taste and so I would not buy it anymore. But this should not prevent you buying it. Maybe, you like it more as I :)

Geschmacklich fand ich ist es nicht gut, aber auch nicht schlecht. Es war etwas süß im Geschmack, aber nicht zu viel. Dies gefiel mir gut. Ich schmeckte aber persönlich nicht den Pflaumensaft heraus. Eher fand ich es etwas - wie soll ich sagen - einparfümiert, wie Rosenwasser. Am besten fand ich noch das Kinako-Pulver. Von der Konsistens her ist es ähnlich dem Cocon Pudding.
Mein Fazit: Mir persönlich hat es nicht ganz so gut geschmeckt und ich werde es deshalb nicht mehr kaufen. Dies soll aber nicht vom Kauf abhalten. Vielleicht schmeckt es euch ja besser, wie mir :)
